Poonam Bhagat is an Indian fashion designer. A major in psychology, Poonam started her fashion career in 1991 following an exhibition of her clothes. A series of successful exhibitions soon marked the birth of Taika. At present it is one of the most well known labels in India, carrying clothes that are western, Indian and sometimes a combo of both. The look is that of understated elegance. The meaning of ‘Taika’ in Finnish is Magic. Her design philosophy of understated chic is reflected in both cut and use of fabrics. Poonam’s work fits superbly alongside the eco-friendly clothing trend in the fashion industry at the moment. However Poonam was working with eco-friendly fabrics long before it became a global trend. The label 'Taika' sells from various stores across India and the globe.
